A cinematographer, gaffer, and video editor based in Austin, Texas.

Zahra is a recent film graduate of UT Austin. She works full time as a producer and A/V specialist at LAITS (Liberal Arts Instructional Technology Services). In her spare time, she seeks freelance gigs and post production work, particularly in the documentary, music, and culinary spaces.

From music videos to stop-motion animation, Zahra has helped create over 75 projects. Her work has screened in film festivals at the county, state, and national levels. She offers freelance video services under her LLC, Z Ultimate Productions, where she has been contracted by professional clients such as MeatEater and KG BBQ, and done pro bono work for nonprofits such as Independent Identity. At LAITS, she works within the Producers’ Cohort, creating high quality documentary-style content for a wide array of clients. Additionally, she spent a summer in LA as a distribution intern for 7th Art Releasing and Camera/G&E PA for several AFI sets.

Previously, she was Live Video Director for KVRX 91.7 FM (2023-2024), running cameras for Local Live: studio sessions which feature up and coming Texas musicians. On the comedy show Longhorn Latenight, she served as Booking Director (2022-2024) for bands and assisted with live audio setup. She has taken on a variety of roles for over 30 UT sets, particularly within the Camera and G&E departments.

Zahra is passionate about collaborating with LGBTQ+ creatives, sustainable film production, and arts advocacy. When she’s not working on films, she’s documenting food for @zahragobbles, making music, and DJing her radio show “Alphabet Soup.”
